Vlogging - My first impressions

Hello everyone! Reading the article about vlogs reminded me of something I had read on Elliot Masie's web site a couple of weeks ago. I think it's fair to say that the existence of the internet, coupled with CNN have made information completely ubiquitous - we can find out pretty much anything about anyone when we need to.

Whereas some vlogs can be funny, 'cutesy', or even trivial (to some of us), I think that there might be a couple of real applications to them - take for example fast demonstrations (Grilling 101), submission of news (video as it happens), or maybe those first 30 seconds of something memorable.

These two latter applications is where I think the importance of 'filters' and maturity of the vlogger come into place, say for example I am at a place where something important happens: a tornado hits, a crime happens - and I have the opportunity of capturing it on video (which is happening faster every day - even my cell phone can capture some seconds of video) - if it's something that is important to the majority of my society, I can submit it to my local news station, or even post it on my blog!

Is this making it harder for those of us that want to hide from everyday life? Does this mean that now we will be able to get the highlights of every Yankee game in video? Only time will tell.

Actually, interesting that you should mention sports... hoping for a guest speaker whose company specializes in streaming video from sporting events... Not the same thing as a home vlogger, of course...
