Going through a detox
Yoga is going well, the class was tough, but my shoulder doesn't feel like it's going to fall off (that is a very good thing). One of the main benefits of a heated yoga class is that it helps eliminate toxins. Another way of eliminating toxins during the class is through the use of twists - it is believed that when you twist, you squeeze old, dirty blood out of the organs, and allow for new, clean blood to enter them. That got me started. Within the yoga community fasting is a common thing, it's actually recommended up to four times a year (with the change of seasons) so I thought... mmmm if I already started with this, should I just do a fast?
The main benefit of fasting is that it works as a detox, since I eat processed foods, then there is bound to be an accumulation of 'things' that I don't want in my body. Fasts can go anywhere from two days of water, to eight days of juices, I am settling on three.
I've embarked on my three day juice fast. We'll see how it goes, according to the literature my body will go through many small changes (my liver will be getting a workout!). So far I've survived half the day, and the first thing I've noticed is the fact that I really don't like the taste of one of the juices I bought... I should warm up to it, since that's one of the few things I'll be having for the next couple of days.
Namaste,

You go, girl! I've done single-day H2O fasts, but never anything longer than that. My main form of exercise these days seems to be...hmmm, let's see, does knitting count as exercise? Does it burn off more or less calories than typing? Do a couple of nice, cleansing twists for me in your next yoga class, would you? (The closest I get to doing yoga these days is shivasana, aka sleeping!!)
I survived eighty hours, never got really hungry and felt wonderful. If you ever get a chance, I highly recommend doing it.
