Labour Day
Aisha and I are sitting here, on the floor, enjoying the sunlight. She rolls on to her back and stretches, looking just... happy. Sometimes I wonder what goes through her cat-mind? Others, like now, I just hang out with her.The weekend was interesting. D.'s parents came to visit. His brother, wife and fifteen month old came along too. For those of us that do not have children, I must confess it's kind of hard to understand how to deal with little ones. It almost felt like the tiny little one had made up her mind to change all of our well-laid plans and throw our schedule to the wind. I won't say much, since I don't know anything about children, and this is not mine to raise.
Things back home (in Mexico) are getting more difficult by the moment. A contested election, a 'state of the nation' which can't happen, and a result that must be given in four days. I fear that there is little hope for my country, and I sometimes wonder if that's what convinced me that leaving was not such a bad thing.
For an interesting book about Mexico, and it's arrival (or journey) into democracy, check out... Opening Mexico, the Making of a Democracy (by Samuel Dillon and Julia Preston).
Aisha needs food, I must leave,
namaste,
