Turkey week

It's very (very) early on Monday morning (what can I say, this silly insomnia is driving me crazy) and I was just thinking that it will be Thanksgiving this week. Not that I participate in the huge turkey-slaughtering holiday, after all, South of the Border it doesn't exist. It did get me thinking.

It's the anniversary of the revolution back home, if I still lived there, I wouldn't have to work. Since I'm on this side of the border, nobody will know that it's an important historical date in our book, nor will they know that I might mentally have checked out. The latter will prove a tad difficult, since I have to teach... I wonder if I can teach and mentally check out at the same time???

So, what do I have to be thankful for...? Well, there's the obvious, my health, D's and A's health. The fact that I have my family around, we have a safe place to live in, work and are overall happy. I have friends, and have met smart people through school (I won't say anything about school, I'll just be thankful for the many smart people I've met there), so all in all I'm happy. Why then, pray tell... is my insomnia still around???

I need to try to sleep, I have to teach in a couple of hours....

I get pre-teaching insomnia, too. It's usually worst at the beginning of a new class/semester and whenever I feel seriously underprepared. Speaking of which...but I'll avoid mentioning school. Yes, I'm thankful for all the smart, cool people I've met there, too. 'Nuff said. :)

Got your comment and I had the same thought, except I wanted to type "I HATE YOU!!" for ten pages. You won't believe it, but I finished that cursed paper this past Sat. Finished my annotated biblio and powerpoint slides, too. Don't give a damn anymore. I knew I'd be too busy this week to do them so I just busted it out. It nearly killed me, but I'm actually pretty happy with my cursed paper, to the point where I think I may try to get it published (I may as well get something out of this after all). For the amount of work we had to put into this class we should have gotten six credits instead of three!

Hey, AP

You've been tagged! Check out my blog to find out what it's all about! :)

And yes, you'll see me on the 20th at 9am sharp, though I'll have to duck out early. Did we all get B&N cards? Why would I have gotten one and not you? Hmmm....
